Lol, they've been wrapped in plastic for quite a while at my Borders. Annoying as hell because I can't take a look to see if they're even worth buying.

reason why their in plastic 1) prevent them from dirty fingers 2) prevent the comic being dirty 3)prevent the comic with missing pages ( cuz someone can easily rip one of the pages) 4) make it perfectly untouchable ( maybe collectors want them seal 4ever) 5) they won't get wet ( if it rain heavily your bag will be wet along with the comic if the plastic is remove) 6) make it clean as possible 7) use a cutter to remove the plastic seal DUH!

is that enough for ya?

Actually they wrap them in plastic cause it's too easy for someone to go in, read the entire manga, and put it back without buying it.

If you've noticed ... they wrap almost everything in plastic. Snacks such as crackers are individually wrapped ... they're such a b*!@h when your adult students (grandmas) share them with you in class. Trying to open them and talk at the same time is difficult when you've got stubby fingers *sigh* -_-;

As AkatsukiNekoJr put it, I am the reason the put plastic wrap on the books. Can't give you a proper time frame of the days spent at a Border's like it was the damn public library. And to make it up to the story I atleast buy one thing before I leave :3

The problem is always more that I don't understand it. :( I like it when they use kana alongside the kanji though? :)

When I was in Japan last I fell in love with the recycled book shops, no plastic wrap :)
