Dear FC&S Fans,

My prayers are going out to the people of Japan as they work together to get through the series of disasters that have hit them. It's been so heartbreaking to watch the horrific images of the earthquake, the tsunami and now the nuclear crisis. Even though we are living in the U.S. now, my in-laws in Japan are safe. Thank you all for your care and concern.

I wanted to create a comic that would inspire my FC&S fans around the world to give of their time, money or supplies to help Japan. It was difficult to come up with an idea that I felt could be a striking image as well as speak to the Japanese people and give them strength. My wife had the idea for Tanuki carrying supplies to help the disaster victims. I hope that this simple image will inspire you. If Tanuki can get up and help, so can you!

You can always donate to the Red Cross online and send much needed supplies to the disaster areas through Second Harvest at http://www.2hj.org/index.php/news/send_us_food_and_supplies/

Thank you and we all can use some of that Japanese "Never give up!" spirit to help them through the tough times ahead.

Much love,
Khalid Birdsong
