In fact, theses don't have to mean anything, they have to be recognizable as english (in Japan, understand "american"), french or german.
What is important is what "french", "english" or "german" call to mind for japaneses.
For example, "french" is classy, and of traditional quality. Mean when you want your product seen by potential customer as "of traditional quality", you use recognizable "french looking" word, even if that don't have any real sense in french.
