I found this through your PW ad on my website and I just finished reading the archives. Most entertaining, I'm definitely bookmarking this one!

this type of life style is to keep the place clean as possible, which means that you can leave your dirty shoes outside, we have the same life style back here in Brunei

I have the same problem. Anyone with feet bigger than a size nine or so will experience severe foot pain if you try to wear those tiny things.

Plus, good luck climbing stairs in those things...

indeed. My indoor shoes say '24cm' and all the girls in my class are appalled by my gigantic foreigner feet, even though their shoes all say '23.5'. Come on...The shoes I bought in Canada are size 8, how on earth did I suddenly become a size 9.5 in Japan? That can't be right.

@ Amelia

I'm a size small here in the United States, sometimes having to go into the tween or kid's section. In Japan I am a medium or medium large.

I also have 8 1/2 size (I assume it is measured in inches because we Americans don't use metric for some silly reason) shoes here. I'd probably get picked on for my monster feet.
