Why does the Japanese English teacher look like a Vietnamese wh#$%?

Did she look like that in real life?

For Pete's sake. That's his art style.

You might as well complain that his head really isn't a perfect oval in real life.

People can see all kinds of things in my characters but please keep your language clean when making comments. I know for a fact that kids are reading this comic. They're not seeing what you're seeing.
Thank you!

Having lived in Turkey for 6 years I can truly relate to your experiences, although the cultures are very different. But the culture shock, the fears, the excitement - yes. And you express it so well with humour.
Excellent comic. Thank you.

Haha!!! I've been living in Japan for the past year - I can totally relate to your experiences thus far, especially the heat. I live in the Kansai region too....it's brutal this year....ew...

I don't get it. Japan is known for having most of their power based on nuclear reactors. I would think that AIr conditioning would be very common?

They have air-conditioning wall units that cool off a room moderately well. It's expensive to run them for long periods of time though. No central air or heat in most regular apartments. Pretty uncomfortable!

Great comic you have here, Khalid! Japan seems like an interesting place, and I would very much like to visit there someday.

I've sort of been inspired by your strip. I've taken my American 'futon' off its frame and put it on the floor. It's kind of neat, actually. But now, I've ordered a shikifuton online. I've read that traditional shikifutons are better for sleeping because sleeping on a firmer surface actually is better for your posture and your back. As well, I'm going to the mall to pick up a buckwheat hull pillow.

I think I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese, I really think sooooo. :D

It's hard to understand how you can teach a language when you don't even speak the language of the childrens.

Don't you have to know the subtilities of the two languages ?
