LOL!! A Tanuki statue. I love his reaction to it's... Ahem, well endowed figure. Sorry, I have so many tea bag jokes.

But the features of the Tanuki are something I know about, so waiting to see him encounter one has been fun.

The tanuki rocks. My favorite part is that it looks like he's holding a mayo bottle instead of a sake gourd!

Is it just me or does the tanuki seem to be giving Karl a look?

LOL That is strangely cute! I know it would freak out everyone who hangs with me, but I really want one. XD

I just looked up Tanuki and it goes to the cutest little critter ever; the Japanese Raccoon Dog. Eee!

Looks like a bottle of salad dressing to me.

But yeah. It doe's look like it's looking at him. Like he's saying " Doesn't my appearence just bother you?"

Wow, fate has a sense of irony. We were just talking about Tanuki and other bits of statue trivia in my Japanese class. Our teacher mentioned that its sort of unique custom in some areas or at least families to give a Tanuki statue to newly married couples. Although to receive one from a friend's family, especially if you were single (and of the opposite sex) might be considered embarrassing.

Ah, tanukis. Yeah, that took me a minute to get used to. What do you say, "Nice statue you got there, I almost broke a toe on his set"?
