He's talking about real fresh made noodles, not ones dried into a brick and packaged with little foil packets of flavor crystals.

Ramen noodles are popular because they're cheap and tasty! So maybe fresh noodles are better, but still...

I remember the first time I learned the difference between instant ramen and real ramen.... my mind was forever blown... ^_^

I make really kick-ass home made ramen. It's one of my favourite foods!

The art is all in the broth! And the extras you mix in make it that much more special.

Personally, my favourity is Soba, with fried shrimp and veggies, some wakame, and of course a raw egg. (It cooks in the hot broth.)

Next, I hope that Karl tries some oden.

Ooooohhhh Karl, Karl, Karl... Do not taunt the Ramen Gods. You will never be satisfied with cheap mass-produced stuff again.

That said, anyone seen good *saimin* outside of Hawai`i? Fundamentally the same dish...er, bowl, but with heaps more stuff inside?

fresh ramen is actually not that hard to make. wheat noodles take a bit of time, but once that is done, you can just go crazy with it. i like to use pork broth, tofu, onion tops, and carrots in mine.

And once he drops an egg in it he will have new faith in everything...
